There is a lot of debate to identify who is responsible for this crisis. President Bush has earlier stated that it is because of the growth of India and China, demand has increased and is the reason for this shortage. Though it is true that for the last few years both these countries are doing a rapid progress with their GDP is increasing at a rate of 8 to 10 percent per annum still it will be too early for blaming them for this shortage which is affecting the world in a big way. The methodology chapter would make sure to fetch the right plan for action.
There were strong protests from the leaders of both these countries and they showed different statistics to prove that Mr. Bush was wrong in his argument and they are not the main culprit for these shortages of food. Thesis statement would fetch the right topic for discussion and would make sure to fetch the right decision at the end.
According to many sources the main culprit is the bio fuel and it is because of these the food price has increased up to 70 to 75 percent. And this is a double edged sword. To decrease the amount of green house gases in the atmosphere of the planet the countries of USA and Europe have shifted in a big way to the bio fuel and because of this plant derived fuels there is a crisis in farm land and the total production has gone down comparing to the total demand.
These higher prices have direly affected those poor who are living below the poverty line. In poor countries or third world countries of the world be it Somalia or Bangladesh every one is facing these problems. Though the politicians of USA and Europe are trying to suppress this fact but different analysis and report from authentic sources have pointed out that the plant derived oil is the main culprit for the shortage of food that all parts of the world are facing today.
As grains become scarce, grain importing countries are getting nervous and looking for land in other countries. For example, Libya which imports 90 percent of its grains, has leased land in Ukraine on which grains will be grown for Libya in return for oil. Egypt, which imports half of its grain consumption, is striking a similar deal with Ukraine in return for gas. Korea, which imports half of its grain consumption, is looking for land in Sudan and Siberia.
It will probably get the poor North Koreans to grow food for it there. The Chinese are looking every where- in Myanmar, Kazakhstan, Siberia, Brazil, Philippines. It signed an agreement under which the Philippines would grow food grains on a few million acres and ship it to China. But the Philippines itself ran into a rice shortage and an irate public forced the government to renege on the agreement. Such thesis topics are quite judgmental and provide enough focus to the real world facing problems.
