How to write dissertation research consistently ?
The fact that you have got down to the business of writing a dissertation research makes you worthy. There is no point in arguing the necessity or importance of writing your thesis, as it is the number one priority for you till it gets completed. You are doing some favorable task to your society at large and this is not a lesser achievement in itself. You have already figured out what is your topic and in what direction you want to lead yourself. Also, you have zeroed on an advisor with whom you have a good rapport and understanding. Now you just want to proceed with the writing after gathering enough material. Why? Are you not able to write a word? Nothing is clicking in your mind? Now what next? How to proceed?
It is better that you do not get bog down while writing down your thesis topic. Try to find every small detail if possible. At times, finding the smallest reference can be very rewarding. Devote as much time as you can, to understand the topic. You need not to worry about the time elapsed as the time well spent matters the most in your work. Minor things like relating a specific argument to the relevant literature or checking your citations or photocopying a pertinent document etc. mean a lot in the long run. You need to get accustomed to do these fine works as at the end these small things lead to a bigger picture.
On a very hectic day, if you are tired to write, don’t feel small to do other works like sorting out the bibliography or resetting the margins etc. You can mail a part of your work to a friend or a teacher guide and get a feedback from a caring heart. This may fill you with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
Leave your work open. This means, leave whatever you want to read the next day, keep it on table the night before. Now when you have the book in your sight, it is more likely to be quickly read. You want to revise and edit the document. Keep it on the table or keep the folder on desktop. This will remind as well as motivate you to do it early. Your thesis writing should be a fun process. You should be mentally and emotionally involved in your work to have it on time. Never look at it just for the sake of finishing. It has to be done with much fervor and festive mood.
The best way to get your dissertation research completed is to; first try to get whatever you feel on paper. You can make it perfect later by thorough revising and editing. All days in a week, you cannot be perfect. Don’t punish yourself for a bad day at work. Take it as a relaxing day and look forward to edit it in near future. Also, you deserve the other recreations in life. Your family needs your quality time. Don’t consider it a waste if you spend time with them. You will feel more energized to do your work the next day. So, be reasonable in your attitude, take your own time. Do not procrastinate but also do not pressurize hard upon yourself. Relax and do the best on your part.
