Dissertation Abstract
What is a dissertation abstract? This is a single chapter in most dissertation papers. Actually, it is only included if the teacher wants you to do so but it is not always a requirement. In any case, it is important that you know how to write a dissertation abstract.
Aside from the necessary chapters like thesis methodology, literature review or introduction and conclusion, a dissertation abstract may be integrated in your research paper. This is a part were you are going to summarize the entire research paper in a compact form. Such a characteristic explains why some people will call it the “executive summary” chapter.
There are only a few reminders that I would like to share to you when writing your dissertation abstract. First of all, it is important that you include the main thesis statement of your paper. This will serve also as the main guiding idea for your reader. Second, include some explanations about the contents of the literature review. But always remember that you need not re-tell the contents of the chapter because you are given only a limited amount of space. Next, make a very short explanation of the methods that you have undertaken. Afterward, write down your results including the data in numerical form. Only finalized results should be written. Lastly, write your conclusion in the same manner as you have written the chapter in the actual research paper. Always remember that a dissertation abstract is short. A practical guideline for you; write only in a single page with a maximum of 500 words in total.
